Juliu Horvath was raised in Romania where as a child he participated in swimming, gymnastics and rowing.
By the age of 19 he was studying classical dance and soon went on to perform as a principal dancer with the Romanian State Opera.
Juliu was later hired by the New York City Opera, touring with such international stars as Margot Fonteyn, Jacques d'Amboise and Melissa Hayden before moving on as principal dancer with the Houston Ballet.
It was here that he later ruptured his achilles tendon which brought his dancing career to a halt.
Turning to yoga, in 1977 Juliu moved to the Carribean island of St. Thomas where he spent time practicing yoga and began developing his system "Yoga for Dancers".
This original system went on to serve as a deeper and more advanced origin for what we now know as GYROKINESIS®.
Returning to New York he opened the successful White Cloud Studio while continuing to develop his method. Juliu put his creative energy into developing apparatus that would enhance and give assisted understanding to his work.
The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® soon followed as another dimension of the Juliu Horvath Method.
The technique has improved strength, flexibility and co-ordination to people from all walks of life and no injuries.
